Block of the Month

Each month a kit (pattern directions and some fabric) is available for the Block of the Month. Construct the block using the directions given with the Block of the Month packet. Bring your block back to the next meeting (completed), and get your next block pattern. You can win a prize for participation, and when you're done, have enough blocks for a whole quilt.

Challenge

The Challenge quilt is associated with the Guild's annual quilt show. Members who accept the challenge will create a quilt meets the criteria for the challenge and may win a prize!

The challenge for 2007 was to choose your favorite color and its complements on the color wheel and make a two, three, or four color quilt or wearable. No black or white! In addition, you were asked to portray something about yourself in your piece; it could be your hobbies, your opinions, your special talents, your family, etc. Challenge quilts were due at the Auust 27 general meeting, at which members voted on their favorite quilts. The winners were:

Denise Long - One Last Sip

Victoria Murphy - Pioneer Quilter Woman

Sylvia Zeng - Sunset At Waikoloa

Charm Square Exchange

The Guild organizes small groups who exchange charm squares each month.

Fabric Raffle

Each month you can bring fat quarters of specific fabrics and take the chance of winning a whole bunch of them. Each month will include a free pattern.

In November there will be a special drawing for everyone who participated in monthly raffles.

Flea Market

Start cleaning out your sewing room now! Rotate your treasures! Or plan to shop for new and used sewing, quilting, and craft items. Bring your friends. Guests are welcome, no charge for guests. Flea market: Monday, August 28, 2006, 7:30-9 pm. More information for vendors is here.

Library

The Guild maintains a library of wonderful books full of patterns and designs just waiting to encourage you. Guild members can check out up to three books a month. The only time money is involved is if you forget to bring back the book(s) the next month.

Here are lists of the books in Pioneer's library, sorted by category, author, or title.

Logo Merchandise

We have denim shirts, Quiltfest t-shirts, cookbooks, plastic project bags, pins, and fabric tote bags for sale. All are available at regular Guild meetings.

Mini Groups

Members can join small groups of quilters interested in specific areas of quilting. Currently we have charm square groups who exchange fabrics, as well as an applique mini-group.

Newsletter

The Pioneer Press is a monthly pulication sent to members of Pioneer Quilters Guild. Deadline for information is noon on the Friday following each general meeting (unless otherwise stated). Articles, information, and notices should be sumitted typed and ready to print.

Quilt Camps

The Guild sponsors quilt retreats twice a year, one in spring and one in the fall. See our Quilt Camp page for more information.

Secret Pals

Participation in the Secret Pal program is a way for members to make a special friend. Names are drawn at the beginning of the Guild year. Throughout the year, we remember our Secret Pal with cards, gifts, etc. After the year is over, we reveal ourselves to our Secret Pal.

Sew and Sew Raffle

At each meeting, the Raffle committee presents fabric, books, patterns, and other quilt-related treasures for which members can purchase tickets.

Show and Tell

We love to see quilts (even tops) that our members have completed. We spend part of each meeting seeing and hearing about these creations. You can also see photos of some of the show and tell items from previous meetings here on our web site.

Workshops

Workshops with our speakers are normally held at the Quilter's Stash Quilt Shop in Rocklin.
